REU610 fa parte della famiglia di prodotti Relion® di ABB e fa parte della serie di prodotti 610. La serie comprende relè di protezione per la protezione dell'alimentazione, la protezione del motore e la supervisione della tensione generale del sistema. Il design plug-in facilita la messa in servizio del quadro e consente l'inserimento e il ritiro rapidi e sicuri delle unità plug-in.

REU610 è progettato per la protezione da sovratensione e sottotensione delle sbarre collettrici delle sottostazioni di distribuzione, protezione da sovratensione dell'alimentatore e del trasformatore di potenza, protezione da sottotensione del motore e protezione e supervisione del banco di condensatori. Nei sistemi elettrici con neutro isolato, viene utilizzato anche per la protezione da guasto a terra non discriminativa, basata sulla misura della tensione residua. REU610 viene utilizzato per inizializzare la commutazione automatica delle sbarre di sottostazione e per disconnettere piccole unità di potenza dalla rete pubblica, ovvero in isola.
