Safety Manager è il risolutore logico di un sistema strumentato di sicurezza (SIS) che esegue specifiche funzioni strumentate di sicurezza (SIF) per garantire che i rischi siano mantenuti a livelli predefiniti.


Un SIS misura, indipendentemente dal Basic Process Control System (BPCS), una coppia di segnali di processo rilevanti come la temperatura, la pressione, il livello in un serbatoio o il flusso attraverso un tubo. I valori di questi segnali vengono confrontati con i valori di sicurezza predefiniti e, se necessario, il SIS emette un allarme o interviene. In questi casi il SIS controlla la sicurezza del processo e riduce la possibilità di una situazione non sicura.


La logica di Safety Manager definisce la risposta ai parametri di processo.
