O Emerson EPRO MMS6822 atua como tradutor para máquinas industriais. Ele preenche a lacuna entre o sistema de monitoramento de máquinas MMS 6000 da Emerson e outros sistemas de controle. Os módulos MMS 6000 coletam dados de máquinas, mas esses dados nem sempre são compatíveis com outros sistemas. É aqui que entra o MMS6822. Ele coleta dados dos módulos MMS 6000 por meio de um barramento RS-485 interno e os converte em um formato legível por sistemas externos. Esta conversão utiliza dois protocolos: Modbus RTU para comunicação interna e Modbus TCP/IP para conexões de rede externa. O MMS6822 transmite os dados convertidos através de Ethernet, permitindo que outras máquinas monitorem e analisem informações vitais do sistema MMS 6000.
