Das Design der PROXPAC XL-Näherungssondenbaugruppe ähnelt unseren 31000/32000-Näherungssondengehäusebaugruppen.  Die Baugruppe bietet die gleichen Vorteile und Funktionen wie die Gehäuse 31000 und 32000 für den Zugriff auf und die externe Justierung von Näherungssensoren.  Im Gehäusedeckel der PROXPAC XL Assembly befindet sich jedoch auch ein eigener 3300 XL Proximitor-Sensor.  Dieses Design macht die PROXPAC XL-Baugruppe zu einem völlig eigenständigen Näherungsmesssystem und macht ein Verlängerungskabel zwischen der Sonde und dem zugehörigen Näherungssensor überflüssig.  Außerdem ist kein separates Proximitor-Gehäuse erforderlich, da die Feldverkabelung direkt zwischen den Monitoren und den PROXPAC XL-Baugruppen erfolgt.
