I moduli 3500/60 e 61 forniscono sei canali di monitoraggio della temperatura e accettano ingressi di temperatura sia per rilevatore di temperatura a resistenza (RTD) che per termocoppia (TC). I moduli condizionano questi ingressi e li confrontano con i setpoint di allarme programmabili dall'utente. Il 3500/60 e il 3500/61 forniscono funzionalità identiche, tranne per il fatto che il 3500/61 fornisce uscite del registratore per ciascuno dei suoi sei canali mentre il 3500/60 no.

L'utente programma i moduli per eseguire misurazioni della temperatura RTD o TC utilizzando il software di configurazione rack 3500. Diversi moduli I/O sono disponibili nelle versioni RTD/TC non isolate o TC isolate. L'utente può configurare la versione RTD/TC non isolata per accettare TC o RTD oppure una combinazione di ingressi TC e RTD. La versione isolata TC fornisce 250 V CC di isolamento da canale a canale per la protezione da interferenze esterne. Se utilizzati in una configurazione TMR (Tripla Modular Redundant), i monitor della temperatura devono essere installati uno accanto all'altro in gruppi di tre. Se utilizzato in questa configurazione, il sistema impiega due tipi di votazione per garantire un funzionamento accurato ed evitare guasti puntuali.
